ALL OBEYING THE CROSSING RULES.—The Minister of Social Welfare (Miss Howard) and the public relations manager of the Shell Company of New Zealand (Mr F. W. Petre) walking over the pedestrian crossing at a model intersection, watched from the kerb by the district officer of the Transport Department (Mr D. L. Hogan), during a traffic-trainer demonstration at the Mairehau School yesterday. Boys and girls in pedal cars and on bicycles were delighted when these officials took the place of pupil pedestrians at the close of the display. The unit, described elsewhere, will eventually be used for a week at all South Island schools to give children practical training in road safety and traffic rules.
