RACING CAPET WINS GREAT WESTERN STEEPLES

INVERCARGILL, April 5. Capet, whose career was thought to be finished when he broke down on the second day of ,the Riverton meeting a year ago. won the Great Western Steeplechase for the second year in succession .on opening day of the Riverton Racing Club’s annual meeting- on Saturday. Capet and Yankee Modesta fought out a thrilling finish from, the last jump, with Capet winning in a photo-finish. Yankee Modesta waa also runner-up to Capet in the race last year. v Great Sensation gained a runaway win in the Riverton Cup at his first attempt in open comoany. The winning double, Darby and Great Sensation, paid £l2 12s foi £l. The meeting was held in fine weather on a track which was cutting up. There was a good attendance.
