ATLANTIS LOSES AT DUNEDIN

Green Island Far Too Strong "The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, April 6. Atlantis (Christchurch) senior Soccer team had a discouraging opening to its season yesterday when at Miller Park. Dunedin, it was beaten by 7 goals to 2 by the faster Green Island side. Although Atlantis opened the scoring and launched several strong attacks at points throughout the game, it seldom looked like winning. Atlantis scored 10 minutes from the start, when the outside right. A. Condie, goaled after a passing movement up the right wing. Green Island equalised a few minutes later, however, when T. Flaws, playing at inside right, put the ball in from a corner kick by W. Flaws. Almost immediately afterwards, T. Samson scored after a fine solo run, and Green Island took the lead. Just before half-time. Green Island scored again from a movement that left the defenders standing. The scorer was W. Flaws. After half-time, Atlantis seemed to get its second wind, and for a while play was even, but then W. Flaws scored again. H. Smit, Atlantis’s goalkeeper, kicked the ball clear, but it had crossed the line. The issue was put beyond doubt shortly afterwards when T. Flaws netted Green Island’s fifth goal, and a little later its sixth. From an Atlantis, movement in which most of the forward line was involved, the centre-forward, D. Ballisat, reduced the margin to 6-2. Green Island was too strong, howev®f« and T. Samson made it 7-2. The teams were:— Atlantis.—H. Smit, N. Hughes. D. Soder, R. Kerslake, J. Hegarty (captain), T. Hinchley, A. Condie, S. Wilson, D. Ballisat, J. Hinchley, P. Toner (manager) Green Island.—B. Robinson, W. Wray, E. P. Stuart, J. Dunbar, J. Keene, M. Farquhar. P. Hay, T. Flaws (captain), W.
