Bus Strike Talks Break Down

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 4. Talks on the London bus strike which is threatened for Monday, May 5, broke down in London today after a 90-minute meeting between trade union leaders and London transport chiefs. Yesterday, leaders of London’s 50,000 busmen decided to give one month’s notice of strike action in support of a pay claim. The Industrial Court, an arbitration body, has awarded a weekly rise of 8s 6d to 36,000 central London busmen, with nothing for 14,000 country bus workers. The union wants a 10s 6d increase for all 50,000.
