CENTENARY OF CHURCH

St. Peter’s, Upper Riccarton St Peter’s Church, Upper Riccarton. was filled for every service yesterday in the first day of the church’s centennial celebrations. Many former parishioners returned to the. church for services today, and were welcomed at a supper after the evening service by the vicar,(the Rev. H. G. Norris) *and the parishioners’ warden (Dr. J. A. Lewis). Easter day services started yesterday with Holy Communion at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.,.with a family service at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. the chaplain 'to Christ’s College, the Rev. P. W. D. Parr, a former assistant curate of St. Peter’s, preached the sermon in a choral communion service. Mr Norris preached at the festal evensong, held at 7 p.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated today, tomorrow and Wednesday irr the mornings. A centennial banquet will be held in the parish hall tonight, and more than 250 persons are expected to attend. Tomorrow, the centennial ball will be held in tjie membera* lounge of the Addington trotting grounds.
