Boxing McNally Beaten By Bennett

(New Zealana Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 6. The young Australian featherweight, Brian Bennett, easily outpointed the New Zealand lightweight champion. Joe McNally, in a professional boxing contest at Feilding last night. Bennett, the superior boxer, built up a clear points lead in the early rounds, and despite a great last-round effort by McNally, he always held the upper hand. McNally, the harder puncher, was often frustrated by the clever Australian, who showed- astonishing evasive powers. Nevertheless, Bennett showed no reluctance to carry the fight to his opponent and, at times, scored with crisp lefts and rights to his opponent’s head. Bennett To Fight Billy Leekie PALMERSTON NORTH. April 6. The Manawatu Boxing Association has matched the 20-year-old Australian featherweight, Brian Bennett, and Billy Leckle in a 12-round contest in Palmerston North on April 28. The pair fought in Wellington last August, when Bennett won on points.
