HIGHER TAX ON PETROL
Factors Affecting Decision (New Zea/ancf Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 4. Representatives of the North and South Island Motor Unions, including their presidents, Mr W. H. Brown and Mr R. Twyneham, waited on the Minister of Works (Mr Watt) yesterday tn discuss requests that had been made to the Government that petrol tax should be increased, states a supplied report. The Minister agreed that no I decision would be made until the National Road Board’s investigation into the distribution and expenditure of the Road Fund had been completed and the report of the Royal Commission on Local Government Finance was available.
