EASTER IN BRITAIN
Thousands Off To Country (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, April 3. Traffic in London was at a complete standstill tonight as thousands of Londoners moved out into the country for Easter. A Royal Automobile Club spokesman said. “It looks as though all of London is evacuating.” A record 6,000,000 cars are expected to jam roads throughout Britain during the holiday, and this Easter promises to be the busiest ever for airlines, the railways, and road transport firms. But the weather outlook for most of Britain is cold and wet with only the north-we>t corner expected to have a sunny Easter British European Airways reported one flight in or out of London airport every three minutes, which is twice the usual rate. The airline said that 100 of its planes would fly 4500 holidaymakers to Europe today. The most popular destination was Paris, with the Channel Islands second. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, with Prince Charles and Princess Anne, will stay at Windsor Castle during Easter and are remaining there until the end of the month.
