TULLOCH'S BIG STRIDE SHOWN IN AUSTRALIAN RACE.——The New Zealand-bred champion Tulloch has a stride of 26ft 7in when galloping at top. The colt’s length of stride and galloping action are shown in this series of photographs taken during the Rawson Stakes at Rosehill, New South Wales. The pictures were taken about half a furlong from the winning post, where Tulloch had dashed clear of Caranna. Bernborough, a horse 5in taller than Tulloch, had a stride of 28ft, Phar Lap 25ft (measured in America), and Syntax 24½ft. Tulloch’s stride has been measured from the spot where his near foreleg is about to leave the ground, circled in the top right picture, until it lands again, shown in the last photograph of the series. The photographs were taken by a speed camera in slightly less than half a second.
