Annual Meeting Of Council One of the saddest features about the needy children was the lack of love and care in their lives, said Mr Mulcock Houwer, the secretary-general of the International Union for Child Welfare, at the annual meeting of the Dominion Council of the Save the Children Fund on SaturdayMr Houwer who is on a world tour, spoke to the meeting of the good work the Save the Children Fund was doing throughout the world, and emphasised the need for such organisations. At a morning tea, earlier on Saturday, Mrs H. R. Fountain and the Mayoress, Mrs R. M. MacFarlane. were guests; Mrs Macfarlane also spoke of the wonderful work the fund was doing Since the Rice Bowl appeal was so successful last year, it was decided to hold it again, this time for Korea, where the need for relief is still great. Delegates from Hastings, Wellington. North Canterbury, South Canterbury, Otago and Southland were present. The officers elected for 1958 were: President, Miss M. G. Havelaar; chairman, Mrs J. L. Hazlett: treasurer. Mr J. A. Gillies: secretary, Mrs A. F Gil-

kison; assistant secretary,'Miss G Cumming.
