Boxing BROWN RETAINS TITLE
Bout Against Anderson Ends In Eighth Round

Barry Brown had no trouble in retaining his national welterweight boxing title against Ken Anderson, of Dunedin, in the Wellington Town Hall tonight. Brown floored Anderson several times during the bout, and the referee (Mr P. J. Stone) did not even bother to count when Anderson was dropped in the eighth round. Weighing lOst 5Hb to Anderson’s lOst 4.| lb. Brown was on top throughout. He had Anderson in trouble early and should have finished the fight before the eighth round. Hooking ’ relentlessly with his right. Brown had Anderson groggy in the third round when he knocked him down. Anderson was felled again in the fifth and sixth rounds. Though he must have realised he had nd chance. Anderson gamely punched away till the end.
