GIRLS’ SCHOOL SPORTS
Mr P. R. May reported that an inter-secondary school sports for girls would be held at Rugby Park on April 2 at the meeting of the •executive of the Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association on Thursday evening. "They have had an uphill struggle to stage the sports. The physical education mistress of the Christchurch West High School first convened a meeting to get it started." he said. "There will be 12 schools there. It should become an annual fixture and may become as popular as the boys' event.” Mr May said Mr F. Carter said that the headmaster of Christchurch West High School had invited the other schools I tc compete in the sports. Canterbury was a long way behind the other centres in startine girls' inter-secondary school sports, said Mr May
New Class Yacht.— The six Flying Dutchmen class yacht hulls which recently arrived in Auckland have been allocated to Auckland skippers for use. These Olympic class boats are expected to make their first appearance in New Zealander waters in about two months’ time.—(P.A.)
