VICTORIA LEAGUE

Queen Mother’s Thanks For Flowers The first morning tea for the year of the Victoria League was held recently. There was an attendance of 103, including two visitors, Mrs Hardy (Hawke’s Bay); Miss Williams (Christchurch), and also new members Mesdames E. F Scott, G. A. Mein, T. R. Blunden, E. J. Sopp. Mr G. M. Morgan gave a talk on life in Jamaica. Mrs R. B. Neill read the following letter received from the Hon Mrs John Mulholland. Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother:— "Dear Mrs Neill, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, bids me tell you how delighted Her Majesty was with the really lovely flowers which you sent to greet your patron on her arrival. It has been a great happiness to Her Majesty to be in New Zealand again, but I know that Queen Elizabeth feels sorry that her visit was all too short and that it nas not been possible for her to meet more of the people who have welcomed her so warmly. “Please convey Queen Elizabeth’s sincere thanks to all members of the Victoria League in Canterbury who were associated with the gift and assure them of Her Majesty’s constant interest in the work of the Victoria League. "Queen Elizabeth hopes so much that some of your members were able to see her during Her Majesty’s short stay in Christchurch.”
