WESTHAVEN MINE DISASTER

Commission Of Inquiry Named The members of the commission set up to inquire into the accident at the Westhaven coal mine. Maungarakau, Collingwood, on January 17, when four men lost their lives, were announced today by the Minister of Mines (Mr Hackett). The commission will comprise: Mr H. J Thompson, S.M., of Nelson, chairman; Mr W Parsonage, a mine superintendent; and Mr J. Hadcroft, a retired district manager of State coal mines. No date has yet been set for the hearing of the inquiry.
