Mr Nordmeyer’s View
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 21.
The New Zealand Government will be watching closely over* the next few weeks any developments concerning interest rates on loans after the reduction in the Bank of England bank’ rate from seven per cent, to six per cent. The Minister of Finance (Mr Nordmeyer) said this today when asked whether the bank rate reduction would have any effect on the rate of interest that might be charged on ' any loan New Zealand might raise in the United Kingdom. “I think it is inevitable that we shall see a falling rate in interest charged on loans generally, but a great deal depends on the term of the loan,” he said.
