NEW CHINESE BUREAU

Foreign Affairs Control

(Rec. 10.10 p.m.) PEKING, March 19. The Chinese Government today announced the creation of a Bureau of Foreign Affairs under the direct supervision of the State Council, the chief government agency, and headed by the Foreign Minister, Marshal Chenyi. Details of the new bureau were not disclosed but several other Ministries have similar bureaux to ensure close liaison in policymaking between the Prime Minister, Mr Chou En-lai, and Senior Ministry officials.
