Third Programme Performance (Lrom the London Correspondent of i . “The Press”) LONDON. Included in a programme of new compositions broadcast in the Third Programme* of the 8.8. C. on February 25 was the first performance of “Essay” for unaccompanied violin, by the Auckland composer, Max Saunders. Mr Saunders left New Zealand for Britain 20 years ago. While in Britain. Mr Saunders has written much film music and was recently concerned in the fresh setting of “The Beggar s Opera” called “The Little Beggars.” »

Mr Saunders’s “Essay” will be played by Alan Loveday, the New Zealand violinist who came to Britain to study the violin in 1939.
