Growth Of New Industry

One of the most significant developments in agriculture in recent years has been the use of the aeroplane in farming. In 1949-50 seven operators with 15 aircraft flying for 2137 hours on 32,055 flights spread 5003 tons of fertiliser on 48,741 acres. In the most recent yearly period there were 60 operators with 263 aeroplanes. Flying for 64,770 hours on 944,043 flights they 'spread 427,405 tons on 3,943,301 acres.
