U.S. Sailors Assaulted And Robbed

(New Zealand Press Association} AUCKLAND, March 12.

An American sailor was assaulted and robbed by four men, then thrown from a moving dar m Fanshawe street late last night. The sailor is from one of the four American destroyers berthed at the Devonport naval base.

The sailor was brought to the Queen’s Wharf police station by a harbour board night-roundsman, who found him in a dazed condition stumbling along near the lighter basin. He was later returned to his ship. At the Parnell rose gardens last night two other American sailors were beaten up and robbed of money and cigarettes. A girl with the Americans was assaulted.
