NUCLEAR SCIENCE RESEARCH

Scholarship In Canberra An Australian National University scholarship, which will enable him to study and carry out nuclear research under Professor M. L. Oliphant and Professor E. W. Titterton, at Canberra, has been awarded to Mr Graeme Coote, a graduate of the University of Canterbury. He will leave next week. Mr Coote won the Haydon prize in physics at the university in 1955, took his bachelor of science degree and was awarded a senior scholarship in 1956, and last year gained a master of science degree in physics. A former pupil of the Christchurch West High School, Mr Coote won the Chilton memorial prize in mathematics and science in two successive years, played cricket in the first eleven, and represented Canterbury in junior grade soecer for five years. He has since played senior soccer in the university team.
