Hiroshima Bomb Films Shown

Previously secret films of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima were shown to a nation-wide television audience last night.
The United States Air Force films, climaxed by the mushroom explosion of the bomb over the Japanese city in August. 1945. showed the training of airmen for the mission, the shipment of the bomb’s components by warship and transport plane to Tinian Island and the arming and setting of the bomb during the mission. The shio which carried part of the fissionable material. the cruiser Indianapolis, was sunk by an enemy submarine three days after it delivered its cargo.
Film and Paper.— The North Canterbury Catchment Board has decided to support strongly an application for a licence to import printing paper and film for aerial survey photography.
