A.N.Z. BANK CHAIRMAN
Sir Geoffrey Gibbs’s Visit
Sir Geoffrey Gibbs, chairman of directors of Australia and New Zealand Bank, Ltd., will arrive in Christchurch by air from Sydney this afternoon. He will spend a few days in Christchurch before leaving on Friday for Wellington, where he will be joined by the bank’s general manager (Mr Hugh Williamson). Sir Geoffrey Gibbs, who is making one of his periodical visits, is well known in New Zealand and has always kept closely in touch with New Zealand affairs. On
this occasion he will be in New Zealand for about three weeks and, accompanied by Mr Williamson and the chief manager for New Zealand (Mr Edwards) will visit several of the bank’s branches in both islands. Among other business and public positions, Sir Geoffrey Gibbs is chairman of the Advisory Council Export Credits Guarantee Department, chairman of the managing trustees of the Nuffield Foundation, and chairman of the governing trustees of the Nuffield Provincial Hospitals Trust. Sir Geoffrey Gibbs will be accompanied by Lady Gibbs and their daughter, Miss Elizabeth Gibbs.
