Marciano Refuses Offer
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LOUISVILLE (Kentucky), Mar. 10. Rocky Marciano, the former world heavy-weight boxing champion, said yesterday that he had rejected a promoter’s offer to meet the present champion. Floyd Patterson. The retired champion was reported to have been offered 1.250.000 dollars for the matchi by Jack Kearns. Marciano said he had previously turned down an offer of 3.000.000 dollars. He told reporters: “I don’t have any desire to return to boxing. I’m very fond of Jack Kearns. I'm grateful for his offer But I turned down one of 3,000,000 not so long ago.” He did not say who had offered him the 3,000,000 dollars.
