MILLING WHEAT PREMIUM

Bonus On Hilgendorf To Be Continued WELLINGTON, March 5. The present premium of 2s a bushe] on Hilgendorf wheat will be continued for the 1958-59 crop, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Holloway) announced today. “The purpose of the premium is to encourage increased production of this particular variety of wheat.” he said. “Flour processed from Hilgendorf wheat has a higher baking quality and is used for blending with other flour. With a higher quality flour the baking industry can bake better bread.” However, said Mr Holloway, as Hilgendorf wheat gave a lower yield per acre a higher price was necessary.
