RACING PINNACE, BAGMAN LIKELY WINNERS

Pinnace (Bradley Handicap), Bagman (Waihora Park Hack Handicap) and Purser (Kinloch Handicap) will probably be short-priced favourites at the Banks Peninsula Racing Club’s autumn meeting at Motukarara today. Pinnace is the only successful two-year-old in a capacity field. Unless there is a brilliant galloper amongst the unraced youngsters, top-weight of 8-12 should not keep victory beyond Pinnace’s reach. Pinnace and Bagman have engagements in stronger fields at Trentham next Saturday.

Bagman, winner of his last two races, and top-weight in the mile Waihora Park Handicap, for three-year-olds, will be tried over more ground in the Sil verstr earn Hack Handicap at Trentham. Bagman is owned by Mr H. D. Greenwood, who will be represented by Devilry and Archway in the Ahuriri Hack Handicap, and Bolero and Brummel in the Bradley Handicap. It could be a very good day for the Amberley owner and his private trainer, K. J. Thomson.

Purser will have only five opponents in the Kinloch Handicap. Princess Neptune dropped out

of the fiel4 yesterday. There is nothing outstanding in. the recent records of those which will oppose Purser, and Mr R. G. Gerard’s four-year-old Neptune gelding will be solidly supported on the strength of his easy win over six furlongs at Wingatui a fortnight ago. Purser is trained at Riccarton by J. E. Shaw, and is a stablemate of Brianbra, a fit hack for the Ahuriri Handicap. 1 Brianbra is top-weight and will be one of the Tavoured runners. Desert Cloud and Money-go-Round may dominate betting on the first leg of the double the Peninsula Handicap, but the field lacks an outstanding prospect, and there could be a surprise. Willie Wolseley was scratched yesterday for the Parkinson Hack

Handicap, for which he was an early favourite. El Jefe and Tarbillon will probably be the best of those left in the field.

Fine weather is likely and the track should be in first-class order.
