Plot Against Persian Government

Eight arrests have been made since the disclosure of a plot to overthrow the Persian administration.
Other reports said more than 30 persons were arrested. | ’
A Government communique said the plotters had sought to bring a new government to power by the support of “foreigners,” whom they had approached with assurances that the change would serve their' interests.
The communique said the foreigners—believed by informed quarters to be a Western and not a Communist nation—had ignored the move and withheld their support.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manushar Eghbal, formed the present Government in succession to that of Dr. Hussein Ala last April. He declared then that his policy was support for the Bagdad Pact, friendly relations with all nations and stronger ties with the Islamic States. ■ , ' ■ Last October 70 persons' were arrested in Teheran for “antiGovernment activities.”
