The Theatre Royal

Sir, —Some correspondents will rely on a 50 years memory when the volumes of “The Press” are readily available. Workmen performed much overtime to have this theatre ready for its opening on November 1, 1907, to J. C. Williamson’s “Mother Goose,” with Harry Phydora in the title role. This pantomime was a sensation, and the new theatre was quite unable to seat all those arriving at each performance for the fortnight’s season. There were two spectacular singing features in it: “Moon Dear” and “Trip Through Cloudland” (Act 2, Scene 4). No sign of any “Blue Moons” that year.—Yours, etc.,

PLAYGOER. February 27, 1958.
