“Soviet Interest In Peace” .
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, Feb. 13. An American scientist said today he believed the average Russian was as, interested in peace as Americans. He is Mr Carl Eckland, leader of the American Geophysical Year expedition at Wilkes Base in the Antarctic. He said the Russians had “a very, very fine scientific programme” operating at their base at Mirny in Australian Antarctica. “They are doing all the work we are doing and a little more,” he said.
