ELECTRICITY FROM BENMORE.—Much heavy equipment will be to the alto of the Benmore hydro-electric scheme, and at least three bridges on the main highway will have to be replaced with stronger structures. This wooden bridge across the Waitaki, near Kurow, is one that will be replaced. Damaged by the Christmas floods, it is closed to heavy traffic at present.
