Hagley Park Fences

Sir, —Some years ago the unsightly fence in Little North Hagley Park on Harper avenue was taken down. I think everyone was agreeably surprised at the improvement. I suggest that the same be done on the south side of Harper avenue where we now have a pipe and wire fence for a few hundred yards from Carlton bridge and then a live fence which is only tidy for about one month of the year and which is also full of gorse. The pipe and wire fence 1 is rusty, it looks dirty, and most of the wires are loose. Now there is no stock in the park there would appear to be no need for this fence any longer.—Yours, etc., R. H. T. HAMILTON. January 23, 1958.
