MRS C. H. GLUE

The death occurred in Christchurch yesterday of Mrs Catherine Hope Glue, wife of Mr W. P. Glue, of Fendalton. She was 63. Mrs Glue was born in Scotland in 1894. Her father was Mr James Deans, of Annan. Scotland, and her mother, formerly Miss Jessie Hope, also came from Scotland. Mr Deans came alone to New Zealand to work as the manager at a sheep station near Kaikoura. In 1901 Mrs Deans and her eight-year-old daughter, Catherine, joined him. Catherine was the only child and spent, her early youth in Timaru. In 1915 she married Mr W. P. Glue, of Christchurch. Mrs Glue’s interests were con* centrated first on her home, and then in social welfare work. She| is well known for the enormous interest and work she put into! the Fendalton sub-branch of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, and the Fendalton branch of the Plunket Society. Other work for the community included supporting her husband in local body functions. He is chairman of the Lyttelton’ Harbour Board.

Mrs Glue is survived by her husband, four sons, Messrs W, A. Glue (Wellington), M. W. Glue (Christchurch), D. I. Glue (Wellington). and M. J. Glue (Christchurch), and one daughter. Mrs C. H. Kelly. As a mark of respect flags were flown at half mast at the Lyttelton Harbour Board's offices in Christchurch and at ’ Lyttelton yesterday.
