AT BLENHEIM TODAY
Gay Alabama For Sprint
Gay Alabama may find the two miles in the Haughty Handicap too far for her on the opening day of the Marlborough Trotting Club’s annual meeting today, but she should be well suited by the sprint distance in tho Lucky Jack Handicap later in the day. ,K. Purdon’s representative has failed in her retent starts, but earlier in the season she showed fine form. She should be close to her peak again and may take beating. Ladyship was a stylish winner over one mile and three-quarters at Washdyke last week, and it will not be surprising if she is hard to beat today. Battle Fling is a speedy pacer on her day, and from 12 yards she could easil y upset calculations. .Bessie Brigade, Canteen. Night Owl and Nikova are others expected to race well. __The double will be run on the Haughty Handicap and the Sir John McKenzie Memorial Handicap, Wimpy and Dozer forbiing a likely combination. Selections are:— Noon.—W. J. Martell. Memorial Handicap: Estelle, Van Cheetah. Mighty Brigade. 12.40 p.m.—H. E. Fuller Memorial Handicap—First Division: Alert, Kilkerry, Glenlala Lass.
