Australian Woman’s Advice To Her Sex

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, January 21. A vast number of Australian women still lead a dog’s life in spite of modern labour saving gadgets, Australia’s number one housewife said on a television show in Melbourne.

.Mrs Gladys Hain, president of the Federated Association of Australian Housewives, said that:

Housewives should get a man to do their housework; Australian women were political ignoramuses: there would be a peaceful revolution before equal pay was achieved.

Mrs Hain, who holds a lawyer’s degree, said that a woman who paid a young girl £lO a week to do the housework had not woken up to herself. “Men are taking over domestic work and doing it awfully well,” she said. She admitted that her husband taught her to cook and she suggested that home management be taught in schools. Australian women got just what they deserved for their apathy to politics. They had gained their rights too easily. The big political parties did not encourage women to stand for Parliament. “If you were Marilyn Monroe herself they wouldn’t have you,” she said.
