Cocoon Line For Sports (6y VICTORIA CHAPPELLEI LONDON Enough jokes have been made about the “sack” line to have killed it; instead* it is simply changing its character, and the newest silhouette in spqrts clothes is the cocoon line introduced by Teddy Tinling, who has probably dressed more Wimbledon tennis champions than any other designer. When I expressed doubts that players could move easily in his new dresses, he proved to me conclusively that they could. In any case this silhouette looks extremely new and very becoming, especially in the heavy cotton jersey knit which Tinling is using. Another novelty in this collection is the “poncho” or loose jacket in cotton towellings. Worn with sailcloth playdeck slacks in brilliant colours, this is an ensemble likely to be extremely popuar. Among the unusual outfits for home evening wear which Tinling is now including in his collection are several in black cotton, one of which is printed and embroidered with New York’s skyline, and others are handembroidered with raffia and white china beads or brilliant sequins. Emphasis is on brilliant colourings and unusual fabrics at prices which are usually moderate, and Mark Foy’s of Sydney, Australia, is only one overseas store to ; which Tinling is exporting his models.
