Brown, one of the-three local minus playete in the second round of the open rtiampiOMhip of the national of th. champtonships, was played on the untrue Gonville lawns and was not a real test of the fine ability of both players. Heenan believed that, had the game been played on the Wanganui lawns, a different story might have been told. After Heenan took the first game with the loss of only one point, Mrs Brown hit out in fine style and brought the score to game-all. N.Z. JUNIOR TITLES Good Win For J. Trainor A good win by J. Trainor, of Christchurch, over Mrs A. Clucas, of Allenton. Ashburton, in the handicap singles final, was the feature of play in the New Zealand junior croquet championships at Ashburton yesterday. The greens were again very fast. Trainor, giving away one bisque to Mrs Clucas, made a break of 10 during the match. Results of the day’s play were:— CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES Semi-final First Life.—Mrs W. L. Salton (Oamaru) beat Mrs R.
