Circus Bear Bites Off Boy’s Fingers
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, January 19. An 11-year-old boy had his right hand badly bitten by a cjrcus bear at League Park. Napier, this afternoon. He is Peter Lawrence, of 30 Salisbury avenue, Wanganui, who was staying with his uncle. Mr J. J. Roddy, Ferguson avenue, Napier.
The boy, one of a large crowd visiting the circus put his hand on a steel bar of the bear’s cage and the aninfal bit off two fingers.
Boy Cyclist Injured
An eight-year-old boy was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with a broken left leg after he hacf been involved in a collision with a motor-car while cycling along Marshland road at 8.40 p.m on Friday. He is Gavin Phiske. of 86 Retreat road.
