Certturies by Benaud and Davidson against Natal today brought the total of first-class tour hundreds to 16 The M.C.C. in South Africa last season scored only 18 centuries for the tour. It was the third century of the tour for Benaud and Davidson and their partnership, over 200, is the best sixth-wicket stand by Australians in South Africa, beating the 153 by H. L. Collins and A. W. Lampard in 1920. „ The Australian innings against Natal today set these records:— Benaud and Davidson set a sixthwicket record of 241 for first-class matches by Australia against South Africa. Benaud and Davidson scored the highest first-class innings of their careers. The Australians’ total beat the previous highest score by an" Australian team against Natal—s 22 by Richardson’s team in 1935-36. It was Australia’s highest score of the present tour, beating the 520 for six again Rhodesia. Benaud and Grout beat the eighthwicket partnership for Australian first-class matches against South Africa in South Africa—B3 by A. G Chipperfield and C. V. Grimmett in 1935-36.
