FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation: An anti-cyclone is approaching the North Island from the west; a strong westerly airstream flows across the South Island and the southern half of the North Island. Forecast:—
Marlborough Sounds: Strong north-west winds; weather for the most part fair and mild, but some cloudy areas and patches of drizzle at first and again during the evening. Outlook: some rain early, weather becoming fair later.
Nelson and Marlborough except the Sounds: Moderate winds from a westerly quarter; weather fair and warm. Outlook: mainly fair.
West Coast: Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter; weather mainly cloudy with scattered areas of light rain; more general rain spreading from the south-wes» late in the day; temperatures moderate. Outlook: showery westerlies.
Canterbury: Moderate to fresh winds, north-easterlies on the coast. Outlook: mainly fair.
