{New Zeaiano Press Association AUCKLAND, January 13.

A man leapt to safety this I torning when an engine explosion set fire to his launch of Oneroa. He is Mr A. McCallum, chief engineer of the Pakura. He was in the after-cabin when he pressed the starter button. The motor “exploded like a cannon,” blowing off the roof of the forward cabin. Mr McCallum leapt into his dinghy, rowed off to safety, and saw flames destroy the launch, Alanneh, which was valued at £l2OO.
