Beau Revere Favoured

Tamarisk has been scratched for the New Year Handicap, the main race and second leg of the double, at the Reefton Jockey Club’s summer meeting today.

Beau Revere is now likely to be a good favourite. His strongest opponents will probably be Tonka and Appreciate. The first leg of the double is the Mawheraiti Hack Handicap. The leading jockey, W. D. Skelton, has a full list of engagements on members of C. J. Walsh’s Omoto team. Among them are Tonka, Hurry Along, Rising High, and Arabian Stream. A. J. Second Earl For Australia

"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, January 6. Second Earl has been booked to leave for Sydney on February 10, and it seems unlikely that he will compete at the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting starting on January 18.

Because of his wide barrier draw Salaam would not contest the Rangitoto Handicap at Avondale on Saturday, said his trainer, F. Smith, this morning.
