Regatta Held At Alexandra

Three thousand persons attended the first major regatta held by the Alexandra Power Boat Club, on the Clutha river. The main event was the South Island 95 cubic inch veebottom championship, in which two Christchurch boats. Pacific Spot (D. V. Syme) and Javelin (R. Savage) competed successfully. These boats thrilled the crowd with speeds reaching 50 miles an hour. The Pacific Spot, which holds the Australian and New Zealand record for its class, was the most favoured boat to win the South Island championship, and it won the event easily. Javelin was second, and a Southland boat. Papoose, third. A capacity field of eight starters took part in the championship. Results were:—
