Yachting CORNWELL CUP
First Two Races Decided
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, January 6. New Plymouth made a good start today in attempting to create Cornwell Cup history by winning this premier yachting trophy with the same crew for the second successive year. Taranaki led the field with Christchurch after the first two races, followed by Auckland. Confirmed results are:— First Race.—Christchurch (Melody) 1, New Plymouth (Marlin) 2, Auckland (Iris). 3, Wellington (Rascal) 4. Tauranga (Blue Smoke) 5, Manukau (Wisp) 6, Timaru (Mystic) 1. Whangarei (Frolic) 8. Wanganui (Kotuku) 9. Port Chalmers (Hullabaloo) 10, Otago ' (Meteor) 11, Foxton (Celeste) 12.
