SUBURBAN LOSES AT WELLINGTON
Good Batting By R. Duncan (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, January 2. After an interesting game, Wellington Mercantile League beat Christchurch Suburban by 59 runs in the cricket match at Wellington today. Continuing today, Suburban was all out for 168. R. Duncan batted well for a forceful 67. M. Giles, S. Pauling and W. Jupp shared the bowling honours. Wellington is now the holder of the Fitzgerald shield. The D. N. Stokes Cup for the most outstanding performance was awarded to the young Suburban bowler, A. Scott, who took nine wickets for 90 in Wellington’s second innings after taking three for 26 in the first innings. Scores were:—
