JACKPOT AT RANDWICK
Six Betters In Share (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) * SYDNEY, January 2. Six ticket holders won £4292 10s 6d each on yesterday’s jackpot totalisator at Randwick. An unprecedented volume of betting made the jackpot pool worth £51,510 7s 6d. The jackpot totalisator—where punters have to pick the winners in five races—attracted a crowd of 40,500 to the course, 10,500 more than last New Year’s Day. The successful betters shared half the pool because they each picked only four winners and missed out on the last winner. This means that half of the pool—£2s,7ss—wifi be transferred to next Saturday’s Canterbury meeting.
