SUBSIDY TO JORDAN Egypt Not To Pay Share
(Rec. 8 p.m.) CAIRO, Dec. 31. Egypt officially announced today that she will not pay her share towards the 12J million subsidy to Jordan.
Three Arab countries had agreed to pay this sum to replace the subsidy Jordan received under the British and Jordanian Treaty, terminated earlier this year. Under the agreement Saudi Arabia and Egypt were each to pay Jordan £5 million. Syria was to pay £2£ million. So far only Saudi Arabia has paid.
