ARRANGEMENTS OF TRAVELLERS
Many Stay Night In Christchurch
Judging from the number of persons who booked in for the night at the Addington motor camp and the number of inquiries received by Christchurch hotels for accommodation, the holiday arrangements of many have been considerably disrupted by the floods. Many who slept last night in Christchurch did not originally intend to do so. Cabin accommodation at the Showgrounds which had already been booked for later in the week, was fully taxed, and although some campers indicated that they wished to stay until travelling routes were more settled, it appeared last evening that because of bookings in advance, several may have to be turned away. Hotel accommodation, was not especially rushed, although several reported more guests or inquiries for rooms than were expected. Travellers from both the south and the north who were expected for lunch yesterday did not arrive until late last evening because of the flooded roads. It is believed that many travellers spent the night with friends or relatives in the city in the hope that conditions would be more settled today.
