Two thousand cartons of Californian lemons, were unloaded from the Monterey in Auckland yesterday. The fruit will be distributed throughout New Zealand and will be on sale after the holidays. The retail price is not yet known. A fruit distributor said yesterday that at this time of the' year there is usually a shortage of lemons and they were only imported after agreement with the Government and consultation with the local growers. Those imported were only a fraction of the local requirement.—(F.A.)
