Argentine Meat Shipments

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 17. According to data released by the Argentine National Meat Board, deliveries of Argentine chilled beef in Britain during the first quarter of 1958 will be 84,000 metric tons compared with 62,000 tons for delivery in 'the last quarter of the current year. The “Financial Times” says that the increase reflects Argentina’s policy of stepping up shipments to coincide with the period of seasonal decline of competition of British home-killed supplies. The latest figures represent an increase of barely 10 per cent, on deliveries of 77,000 tons on the corresponding period of 1957.
