OTAIO LAUNCHED ON CLYDE
Cadet Ship For N.Z. Company (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, December 9. The motor vessel, Otaio, of 11,000 tons, the first British cadet ship designed to carry both navigating and engineering cadets, was launched at John Brown s shipyard on the Clyde today for the New Zealand Shipping Company. The new ship will carry an engineering instruction ‘staff and cadets will spend two years in her, “The Times” reported. In all, 40 navigating cadets and 30 engineering cadets would start their careers in her when tha Otaio goes to sea next year.
