ACCIDENT AT WINDSCALE
“Inaccuracies” In Report (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 2. 'Die atom scientists blamed for wrecking the £3 million uranium furnace at Windscale have appealed to the Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) to correct “monstrous inaccuracies” in the official report of the accident, according to Chapman Pincher, the “Daily Express” science reporter. Their union leader, Mr Stanley Mayne, has asked Mr Macmillan for immediate action to prevent a complete breakdown of staff relations at Windscale. In documents to be shown to Mr Macmillan, Mr Mayne alleges that the scientist who is individually indicted in the report as guilty of the decision which wrecked the plant was not there when the decision was made. <.
The documents—prepared by the Institution of Professional Civil Servants—also allege that the public had been misled because the main cause of the accident had not yet been found.
